Summer Run Series pt. 2

Race #4 and #5 were both HOT (close to 100 degrees)!  #6 was warm, not too bad.
I pushed myself hard in them and got faster times (and sometimes felt close to passing out!).  I'm using these races basically as my speed workouts for a few weeks.  I dont' think I've pushed myself so hard before.  Race #4, Caumsett 5K, time 28:08;
#5, Hempstead Lake 4K, time: 22:21;
Race #6, Belmont Lake 5K, time 27:52.
Race #7, Robert Moses 5K, 26:32;
Race #8, Jones Beach 5 miler, 43:51
 I was 18th in my division for the last one (there were 119 women in my div. that day).  551/1747 overall.
(I realize there may be too many numbers in this post to interest some of you but this was fun for me to see progress from a pace perspective.)
9:43 approx. pace for race #1
9:48 approx. pace for race #2 (longest)
9:24 pace, race #3
9:04 pace, race #4
8:56 pace, race #5 (shortest)
8:59 pace, race #6
8:33 pace, race #7
8:53 pace, race #8 (5 miles)

Now Im training for a half marathon on Oct 6th and I have a zombie 5K run on Oct 27th.  Next year is my I-must-have-been-crazy-to-sign-up-for-this Tough Mudder in Boston.  :)

Blue blood

I saw a post by my sis. in law Emily and thought I'd post something very similar.
Our kiddos have a history of BYU bringing our families together and providing work for some.

Great Grandpa Stacey attended and works at BYU.
Great Grandpa and Grandma Rowley met while attending BYU.
Papa and Grandma (Stacey) met while attending BYU.
Papa worked as the sports physician for the Football team.
Grammers attended BYU and BYU-Hawaii.
Grumpers attended BYU-Hawaii.
Richard and Janelle met while attending BYU (go marching band!).
(Janelle was 2 weeks away from Cliffton's birth at her graduation in 2007).
Some of my siblings and Richard's and their spouses have attended BYU as well -
Jessica & Rhett, Susie & Oliver, Stephen & Emily and Michelle.
Pretty cool!
(this may not be completely correct so feel free to ask me to add or edit info.)

Preventing chaos.....pt.2

I have always wanted to be a stay at home mom.  I love my kids.  Its hard sometimes to do everything, the cooking, cleaning, laundry, baths, playtime, bills, not to mention any work, community and religious activities.  I am really enjoying my vacation out here in Florida with more playtime and less chores so I can have more fun with the kiddos and with my sisters, brothers, parents, nephew and nieces.  Its rough being a mom but its amazing and loving and crazy with spontaneous dance parties, toasts to each other at the table, original rock ballad versions of church songs (usually made up by Cliffton), silly quotes by the kidds and the million other funny and or tearful things they do/say.
Mom - Many outrageous moments?  I just made that up and it fits pretty well.  :)

I just saw "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" with Susie and Mom.  Its great!  Loved loved loved it!  Its basically about this very special boy that came into a couple's life as they were so discouraged in their long journey to have children.  I am so happy that we are fortunate enough to conceive our children.  Heavenly Father is a very loving and kind Father and He helped bring our family togehter.  I love all three of our wonderful children.  I hope we can welcome a few more in the coming years (but no, not soon, this isn't a hint, announcement, etc.)  Maybe adoption too.  All children are blessings.

I love my family!

Preventing chaos, one day at a time, can be very draining...pt.1

I really like this little story.  A mommy's work is  busy busy busy!  Does anyone remember the old Bill Cosby stand up comedy, back in the 70s or so?  I feel like this story relates a bit to his skit where he's talking about drunkurds (spelling?).  He says,  "they're really trying to maintain but people keep turning the room on them."

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a Cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?' She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?' 'Yes,' was his incredulous reply. She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.
