Violet does listen...sorta
When Violet is not listening, Richard will sometimes (gently) smack her hand while saying "No, No, we don't _____ "(whatever it is). She will now once in a while smack her own hand and say "No, No, No" right after Richard has done that. She's only done that with her Daddy and I believe only after he's said it twice. Its really, really hard to keep a straight face when that happens.

Ella does that same sort of thing. For example, when she's done something bad she'll yell "Ewwa Bewwa" in an upset voice.
